Right of Women, Children Are Protected in Plateau- Women Commissioner

The Plateau state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Rebecca Adar Sambo has formerly taken over from the Permanent Secretary as the Commissioner of the Ministry.

The handing-over took place at the commissioner’s office at the JD Gwamwal Secretariat Jos, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Hassana Ayika, who oversee the ministry for three months, she welcome the commissioner and explain to her the various activities of the ministry, according to her, the ministry is very large constituency, the number of women and children on the Plateau is more than half of the population.

The ministry takes care of vulnerable people in the society, you will be the shoulder so that they can lean on, for you to cope up with these challenges of the ministry, you need to fear God, and be sympathetic to the plights of these categories of people.

The Permanent Secretary further said that, the ministry is partnering with the office of the Wife of the Governor, Donor Agencies, UNICEF, Civil Liberty Organizations, in order to achieve her mandate, assured the commissioner of her maximum support with the directors and all the staff of the ministry, the ministry has keyed into strategic plan of the state government.

The Commissioner responded in appreciating God and Governor Simon Bako Lalong for appointing her as the commissioner, she also express her readiness to work round the clock to protect the rights of women and children, children lives Is important to the nation and we also need to empower them because they are the future of our country, they need our services and care. The event witnesses the large turnout of the staff of the ministry, family members as well as the associates of the commissioner.

You will be recall that Governor Simon Lalong recently sworn in 23 Commissioners and assigned portfolios to them and gave them marching order to work closely with the people at the grassroots and deliver dividend of democracy to the people of Plateau state who gives them second mandate to serve, the governor charge them to be prudent and transparent as they as they manage the scarce government resources
