2 Mins read

Karshi Chiefdom was a spectacle of energy and unity on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as youths from the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) gathered for a remarkable Sallah celebration, dubbed Sallahbration. The event, organized by Hon. Yahaya Santali Maikasuwa, the leading APC aspirant for AMAC Chairman, successfully fused the spirit of the Sallah festivity with a clear focus on youth empowerment. It also highlighted sports as a powerful tool for fostering community cohesion and growth.

The celebration attracted a wide array of attendees, including political figures, business leaders, and a vibrant crowd of thousands of youths from across AMAC. Key dignitaries at the event included Hon. Tanko Galadima, APC’s AMAC Vice Chairman Alhaji Saidu Yaro, FCT National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Vice Chairman Alhaji Jubri Imam, and business magnate Engr. Shittu Usman Chidawa. Their presence further solidified Karshi’s commitment to uplifting its young generation.

In his opening address, Hon. Maikasuwa emphasized the critical importance of youth development, stating, “Our youths are not just leaders of tomorrow—they are partners in today’s progress. Parents and guardians must nurture their talents to ensure they become pillars of society.” He explained that his campaign’s media team had organized the event to foster unity and build strong relationships through healthy competition, mentoring, and sports.

The event saw participants compete in five different sporting categories, including sprint races and skating contests. Hon. Maikasuwa stressed the need for fairness in selecting winners, urging event moderators to ensure that justice prevailed. Winners in each category received financial grants sponsored by his campaign, a gesture that was met with praise and admiration from attendees.

Coach Idris Adams, who served as the event’s moderator, expressed his gratitude for Hon. Maikasuwa’s initiative. “This support ignites our drive to excel,” he remarked, highlighting the rare and valuable opportunities provided by the event. Spectators cheered enthusiastically as skaters and athletes competed, with their determination embodying the aspirant’s vision of an empowered and proactive youth generation.

The event closed with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Ogefila Bayo Adewale, who spoke on behalf of the Santali Campaign Media Team. “Today isn’t just about celebration—it’s a testament to what unity and vision can achieve,” he stated, underscoring the event’s significance as more than just a festive occasion but as a testament to what can be accomplished through collective effort and shared goals.

Sallahbration not only brought joy and excitement to the community but also reinforced the message that investing in youth is vital for sustainable growth. Hon. Maikasuwa’s ability to blend politics with social responsibility marked the event as a significant moment in AMAC’s future. As the festivities concluded, the spirit of unity and optimism echoed through Karshi—a promising sign of progress in AMAC, where sports and solidarity can drive lasting change.
