Senate Confirms NCC Board Members

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), following a successful screening by its Committee on Communications.

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), following a successful screening by its Committee on Communications.

Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, Head, Public Affairs, NCC stated that: “During Tuesday’s plenary session, the upper legislative chamber adopted the committee’s report and approved the nominations of Olorunnimbe, who represents the South West, alongside other commissioners.

“Those confirmed include Maryam Bayi (North East), Senator Ramoni Olalekan Mustafa (South West), and Ikechukwu Ugwuegede (South East). Others are Princess Oforitsenere Emiko and Christopher Sandy Okorie, both representing the South South region.

“The newly confirmed Chairman and Commissioners will now join the Commission’s Executive Management Team, which comprises the Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida (North West); Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Abraham Oshadami (North Central); and Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management, Rimini H. Makama (North Central).”

Their confirmation marks the completion of the NCC’s governing board, which is expected to strengthen the regulatory agency’s oversight functions and policy implementation within Nigeria’s telecommunications sector
