Ambassador Musa Muhammed Tsoken, National Coordinator of the Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative 2027 and National President of the APC Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG), has extended warm and heartfelt congratulations to Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON, Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, on his appointment as Chairman of the 49th Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Ambassador Tsoken described the appointment as a major diplomatic and developmental milestone for Nigeria, noting that Senator Kyari’s emergence into such a strategic global leadership position reflects the growing confidence of the international community in Nigeria’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to global agricultural development, food security and rural transformation.

He said the honour was not only personal to Senator Kyari, but a collective achievement for the nation and a strong endorsement of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

According to Tsoken, Senator Kyari’s leadership of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has brought renewed direction, pragmatism and urgency to Nigeria’s food security challenges at a time when the country and the world are grappling with rising food prices, climate change pressures and disruptions in global supply chains.

He commended the Minister for his hands-on approach to policy implementation, strategic coordination with development partners and consistent engagement with farmers, agribusiness stakeholders and state governments.

He highlighted key initiatives undertaken under Senator Kyari’s stewardship, including the expansion of dry-season farming through irrigation support, the strategic release of food commodities to stabilize prices and cushion vulnerable populations, and targeted interventions to support smallholder farmers with inputs, extension services and access to markets.

Tsoken noted that these efforts have contributed to improving national food systems, strengthening food availability and boosting confidence among local producers.

Ambassador Tsoken further praised the Minister’s focus on strengthening animal health systems, livestock development and rural livelihoods, describing these as critical pillars for sustainable agricultural growth and inclusive economic development. He said Senator Kyari has demonstrated a clear understanding that food security is not only about crop production, but also about value chains, storage, processing, animal health, rural infrastructure and the welfare of farming communities.

Beyond his current role as Minister, Tsoken acknowledged Senator Abubakar Kyari’s long-standing contributions as a legislator and senior stakeholder within the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described him as a seasoned party leader with deep institutional experience, a bridge-builder across political divides and a committed advocate of progressive governance.

According to Tsoken, Senator Kyari’s years in the National Assembly equipped him with the legislative insight and policy acumen that now enrich his performance in the executive arm of government.

He stated that Senator Kyari’s appointment as Chairman of the 49th IFAD Governing Council places Nigeria in a stronger position to influence global agricultural policy, mobilise international support for rural development and attract strategic investments into the country’s agricultural sector.

Tsoken expressed confidence that the Minister would leverage the platform to project Nigeria’s agricultural potential, deepen cooperation with development partners and champion the interests of smallholder farmers across Africa and the developing world.

Ambassador Tsoken, known for his consistent advocacy for good governance and national development, reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He noted that the international recognition accorded to key members of the administration, such as Senator Kyari, is evidence that Nigeria is gradually regaining credibility and leadership relevance on the global stage. He also commended the leadership of the National Assembly under Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as well as the coordinating role of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Dr George Akume, CON, in strengthening governance processes.

Drawing from his long record of grassroots mobilisation and political engagement, including his role as Presidential Campaign Council Coordinator for Taraba State Directorate of North-East Grassroots Engagement and Orientation, Tsoken said the Renewed Hope Agenda continues to resonate with citizens who yearn for tangible improvements in food security, economic stability and national cohesion.

He stressed that agriculture remains central to Nigeria’s development trajectory and that effective leadership in the sector is key to tackling poverty, unemployment and hunger.

He concluded by wishing Senator Abubakar Kyari success in his new international responsibility, expressing optimism that his tenure as Chairman of the IFAD Governing Council would open new windows of opportunity for Nigeria’s farmers, deepen international partnerships and contribute to the broader goal of achieving sustainable food security.

Tsoken reaffirmed that APC-IGG and the Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative 2027 would continue to support policies and leaders committed to good governance, national development and the prosperity of all Nigerians.
