When Shame Is Not A Sarakite

I am a glutton of tranquility, I like to remain peaceful and quiet no matter the level of provocation. However, one thing I haven’t been able to ignore is political oppression and maladministration.

Kwarans have not been so lucky having to live with a group of social creatures known as Sarakites. A group of cult-like society who has become an anathema to the system of Kwara in the last sixteen years.

It’s quite unfortunate for them having being shamelessly rejected at the polls early this year to believe they can form any reasonable sense of opposition. The former Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed started the opposition job by demonstrating the attitude of a bad loser. He used the remaining part of his tenure to set traps for his successor by creating huge bill through last minute contract awarding and mass recruitment that he didn’t deem necessary in his normal eight years at the saddle.

Fatah Ahmed and the House of Assembly replicated the Pharaoh of leadership in Kwara by thinking the state will always revolve around them, they ended up making critical appointments at the last minute of the administration. They didn’t relent at that, the whole state executive council sold and bought public properties for themselves and their cronies. They wanted to make this state difficult to govern for the new administration. Is that good for a state they had taken an oath serve and protect?

But in recent times things have changed; the cock has shaken his feathers with a crow to announce the dawn of a new era. His Excellency, Alh. Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman has brought Omoluabi into governance by prioritising the need of the people. Even without having his complete cabinet, he has solved the puzzle of pot holes within the state capital metropolis. So it’s just #20 million that is needed to make life comfortable for us but the last administration couldn’t do it!

He also effortlessly paid the salary of civil servants without the regular noise of upper and lower percentile as witnessed in the last administration. He has now proceeded to unravel the mystery of inadequate water supply in in Kwara State despite the huge investments by the last administration. He has also moved to check the status of Radio Kwara facilities to know why the station is lagging behind despite huge investments by the last administration.

The governor has started well and he is obviously prepared to deliver good governance to the people and this is a source of worry to the Sarakites.

The suspension of Local Government executives has further exposed the mindset of the Sarakites. Naturally, they are not even supposed to be in their offices a day after 29th of May considering how they got elected into those offices. The election that brought them to power can be termed as one of the worst elections in the history of this country. We vividly remember how we were ‘Ajidagbaized’ in that election to suit the Sarakites. When I heard they are kicking and shouting injustice on the suspension of the LG executives, I said shame has left this people. Can Saraki keep an opposition in government for 24hrs?

Governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman is not after anyone, he’s for all of us in Kwara State. He has started on a good and positive note and we will help him to sustain it. Ise tiya ni Kwara, no time for dirty politics and victimisation.

All these noise and side kicking by the Sarakites are unnecessary; the road that the governor has fixed is meant for all of us and we are all enjoying it and the same will happen when water begins flow. The rot they left behind is enough for the Sarakites to permanently shut up but unfortunately, shame is not a Sarakite!
