We are united, developments will unfold, says Jerry Gana

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, met with some of his political allies, including four serving Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, in Abuja, yesterday.

The meeting was attended by some key party leaders and governors who served as campaign coordinators for Wike and promoted his presidential aspiration before the May 28 and 29 presidential primary of the PDP.

The agenda of the closed-door meeting, which lasted for over an hour, was not made known. But The Guardian learnt it was meant to get members of the Wike political team together, with a view to arriving at a common position on the lingering post-primary crisis rocking the party.

Those in attendance include Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).

Others, who also attended the meeting, are former governors: Donald Duke (Cross River); Gabriel Suswam (Benue); Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo); Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa); Ibrahim Idris (Kogi) and Jonah Jang (Plateau).

Also in attendance are former PDP Deputy National Vice Chairman (North), Senator Suleiman Nazif; former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mohammed Adoke; member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, Tijjani Yusuf, among others.

A former information minister, member of the PDP Board of Trustees and North Central Coordinator of the Wike Presidential Campaign, Prof. Jerry Gana, who spoke briefly after the meeting said: “This is the first meeting we are holding with all our candidates in the states after the primaries. We are united. We are one. We know that developments will unfold, and when they do, we shall brief Nigerians.”
