Today, June 22, Thirty-Four Nigerians living in European countries have been deported back to their country-home, Nigeria, due to immigration irregularities. Time Nigeria has gathered.
Not more than two months ago that a set of ninety Nigerians were deported. According to our reporter who filed in story said that the set of 34 Nigerians deportee are from six European countries for immigration-related offences arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos this morning at about 6.30 am. The deportees arrived their country-home from Switzerland, Germany, Iceland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.
They comprised 32 males and two females, and were brought back in a chartered Airblue Panorama aircraft.
The spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, Joseph Alabi, confirmed the deportation of the 34 persons to Journalists.
According to Alabi, he said, “This morning, we received 34 Nigerians who were brought back from Europe. They were made up of 32 males and two females”. He added that all the deportees were alleged to have committed immigration-related offences in their host countries.
Alabi said the deportees were received by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Police.
Also on ground to receive them were officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
However, the deportees were interrogated by immigration authorities and were allowed to depart to their various destinations.
Within the last two months, Nigeria welcomed l24 citizens back home from European countries owing to immigration-related offences.
