Three thousand four hundred and nine Islamiyya schools from eleven local Government Areas of Gombe State participated in the 2026 Maulud celebration, with thousands of pupils and teachers taking part in a statewide procession.

The celebration, organised to commemorate the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), featured Qur’anic recitation, Nasheed and prayers, as residents lined major streets to witness the procession.

Speaking at the central gathering, Chairman of the Gombe State Islamiyya Teachers Association, Sayyadi Mahmood Aliyu Ra’ees, urged teachers and students to uphold the virtues of discipline, honesty, respect for elders, fairness and hard work.

He said the lessons of the Maulud should be reflected in the conduct of Muslims at home, in schools and within their communities.

Also speaking, Malam Bello Isa Nayi Nawa expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the state a peaceful celebration and for protecting participants.

He described the large turnout of pupils as an indication of growing commitment to Islamic education among parents, teachers and communities across the state.

Similarly, Ustaz Abdullatif Modibbo Tukur expressed appreciation for the peaceful atmosphere and prayed for continued unity, peace and progress in Gombe State.

He said the participation of thousands of children demonstrated that values of good character, compassion and community service were being transmitted to the younger generation.

Security personnel, including the Police, hunters, Civil Defence and the Federal Road Safety Corps, were deployed along major routes to ensure the safety of participants and facilitate the smooth movement of the procession.

Parents who attended the event said the gathering provided an opportunity to remind children about integrity, compassion and the importance of helping others.

The 2026 Maulud celebration, which involved more than 3,400 Islamiyya schools, highlighted the role of religious education, moral values and unity in promoting peace and community development in Gombe State.
