Kwara-born businessman, security expert and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, PhD, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on his turbaning as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate.
Ajia, who is currently in Madina, Saudi Arabia, described the traditional title conferred on the governor as a highly revered honour within the Ilorin Emirate, noting that it was significant not only to the governor personally but also to the office he occupies as the Chief Executive of Kwara State.
In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, Ajia said the turbaning represented another recognition of the governor’s place within the cultural and traditional heritage of the Ilorin Emirate.
He said: “I extend my warmest congratulations to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on his turbaning today, 16th September 2026, as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate.
“This is a highly revered traditional title in the Ilorin Emirate, and it is a great honour for the office he occupies as the Chief Executive of our dear state.”
Ajia also commended the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Mai Martaba the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, and the Ilorin Emirate Council for the recognition.
According to him, the Ilorin Emirate remains an important symbol of the people’s shared history, unity and cultural identity.
“The Ilorin Emirate remains a symbol of our unity, history, and cultural pride. I commend His Royal Highness, Mai Martaba the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, and the Ilorin Emirate Council for this recognition,” he stated.
The APC chieftain expressed the hope that the new traditional honour would further inspire the governor to dedicate himself to the service of Kwara State and its people.
He prayed that the occasion would contribute to greater peace, unity and development across the state.
“I pray that this honour inspires greater service to our state and brings more peace, unity, and development to all parts of Kwara State.
“May Kwara continue to prosper,” Ajia added.
