The Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU), Gombe State, has warned members of the public against a fake grant link currently circulating on social media and other online platforms, purportedly offering financial grants under the programme.
The State Coordinator of the project, Hajiya Hauwa Ibrahim Hassan, gave the warning in a statement, describing the link as fraudulent and unauthorised.
She said the State Project Coordination Unit (SPCU) had dissociated the programme from the circulating link, cautioning residents against falling victim to fraudsters exploiting the project’s name to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
Hajiya Hauwa urged the public not to click on the link, submit personal information, disclose bank details, share verification codes or make payments in response to the claims.
She clarified that all legitimate information regarding grants, financial assistance, empowerment opportunities and other interventions under the programme would be communicated through officially recognised channels.
The State Coordinator also called on Local Project Implementation Units (LPIUs), Ward Facilitators, Women Affinity Group (WAG) members and other community stakeholders to disregard the fraudulent information and help prevent its further circulation.
She reaffirmed the project’s commitment to protecting its integrity, safeguarding beneficiaries and preventing members of the public from being exploited by fraudsters.
For accurate information and clarification, members of the public were advised to contact the NFWP-SU Gombe State Project Coordination Unit through its toll-free line: 08000070777.
