We are confident that AATU will not only respond to the manpower needs of the nation but will also rise to international prominence in a short time,

The Acting Vice Chancellor of AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin University (AATU), Ganmo, Professor AbdulRauf Ambali, has assured that the newly established institution will be a responsive and forward-looking university, committed to addressing Nigeria’s growing manpower demands while aspiring to meet international academic standards.

Prof. Ambali made this known on Monday during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILGPAN) to his office in Ganmo, Kwara State.

Receiving a congratulatory letter from the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Institute, Dr. Uche Okereke — who was represented by the Kwara State Chapter Chairman, Mr. Gbemiga Ayantola Malomo — Prof. Ambali expressed optimism that AATU would commence academic activities this year with full readiness and strong institutional backing.

“We are confident that AATU will not only respond to the manpower needs of the nation but will also rise to international prominence in a short time,” he stated.

He revealed that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 14 academic programmes for the university’s initial take-off and noted that world-class facilities have already been established to support quality learning and research.

Commending the Governing Council and Board of Trustees for the confidence reposed in his leadership, the Vice Chancellor pledged to justify their trust by making AATU a preferred destination for students globally.

“Our institution is sited in a peaceful, secure, and student-friendly environment,” he said. “We have taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and facilities. Without a stable and secure atmosphere, no meaningful academic achievement can be made.”

Prof. Ambali also appealed for sustained support from the host community and other education stakeholders to ensure the rapid development of the university.

In his remarks, the representative of the Institute’s Chief Executive, Mr. Malomo, expressed the Institute’s confidence in Prof. Ambali’s capability, citing his impressive tenure as Director of Academic Planning and Dean of Student Affairs at Kwara State University, Malete.

“With the leadership experience and vision of Prof. Ambali, we are confident that AATU will become a globally recognised centre of excellence within a short time,” Malomo said.

Other officials present at the visit included the North Central Coordinator of the Institute, Mr. Adeyanju Ibrahim; the State Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Taibat Keji; and the Treasurer, Mr. Segun Abolarin.
