Nigeria’s capital city witnessed an evening of prestige, celebration and inspiration as Accolade Dynamics Limited staged the 6th edition of the Accolade Yellow Ball and Awards at the iconic Transcorp Hilton Abuja, drawing influential figures from politics, business, diplomacy and civil society.

The event, held on May 8, 2026, assembled governors, ministers, lawmakers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and corporate executives in a grand celebration dedicated to recognising individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves through leadership, innovation and humanitarian service.

Guests arrived in elegant yellow-themed outfits that illuminated the venue and reflected the significance of the annual awards, which have increasingly become a major platform for honouring excellence and national impact.

Among the dignitaries at the ceremony were governors from Benue State, Enugu State and Cross River State, as well as the First Ladies of Enugu and Cross River States.

The federal government delegation included the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure.

Also present at the high-profile gathering were the Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Rose Anthony Oriaran; Managing Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company, Jennifer Adighije; former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam; and notable business personalities including Nkoli Imo, Johnbosco Onunkwo and export specialist Nduka Udeh.

The De Imperial Philanthropic Family, led by Darlington Nwabunike, also attended the event alongside hospitality expert Onyiyen Ajoku, Chairman of the Nigeria Council of the Legion Morenike Grace Henry, Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc Adaora Umeoji, and Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, Ben Nwoye.

Addressing guests during the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Accolade Dynamics Limited, Doofan Chizaram Tor, said the awards ceremony was created to celebrate Nigerians and institutions making meaningful contributions in different sectors of society.

She explained that the event has continued to evolve into a respected platform for recognising achievements in entrepreneurship, technology, governance, philanthropy and humanitarian service.

“Tonight is about celebrating excellence across different sectors and recognising people who have shown exceptional dedication in what they do. We want to honour people while they are alive and inspire others to continue striving for greatness,” she said.

Tor disclosed that the organisers adopted a public voting process for the 2026 edition to make the selection process more transparent and participatory.

“We introduced a public voting system because we wanted Nigerians to be part of the decision-making process. It means the recognition is not based only on the organisers’ opinions, but also reflects the voice of the public,” she stated.

According to her, honouring individuals from various backgrounds demonstrates that determination and hard work can elevate anyone to national prominence.

“We have entrepreneurs who started from humble beginnings and built successful businesses. We also have people who rose through the ranks in politics and public service. The message is that no matter where you come from, your commitment and consistency can bring recognition,” she added.

The Accolade Dynamics CEO also stressed the importance of mentorship and nation-building, noting that accomplished individuals have a responsibility to guide younger generations.

She encouraged award recipients and leaders in attendance to expand their corporate social responsibility initiatives and invest in youth development.

“We want the legends of today to inspire and mentor the next generation. Success should not end with one person; it should multiply through others so that the nation continues to grow stronger,” she noted.

Speaking on the role of young Nigerians in shaping the future, Tor urged Millennials and Generation Z to embrace innovation and utilise technology as a tool for national transformation.

“This generation has unique strengths, especially in technology and creativity. They should build on what previous generations achieved and take Nigeria to greater heights,” she said.

Co-Chairman of the ceremony, Ginika Tor, stated that Accolade Dynamics had over the years established a reputation for identifying individuals and organisations making exceptional contributions to society.

He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to improving its recognition framework and sustaining the culture of rewarding excellence.

The keynote lecture titled “Leading for Impact: The Power of Recognition” was delivered by leadership expert and motivational speaker Linus Okorie, who emphasised the importance of recognising and rewarding excellence in leadership and organisational development.

According to him, effective recognition motivates individuals to remain productive, committed and innovative.

“When people are appreciated for positive contributions and measurable impact, they become more motivated to sustain those efforts. Recognition is one of the most powerful ways to shape culture and encourage excellence,” he said.

The event featured award presentations, networking sessions and entertainment, further reinforcing its reputation as a gathering point for influential personalities and change-makers across Nigeria.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Henry Tor thanked participants and supporters for contributing to the success of the programme and announced that preparations for the seventh edition had already begun.

He assured guests that subsequent editions of the Accolade Yellow Ball and Awards would continue to expand in reach and impact while promoting leadership, innovation and service to humanity.

The ceremony concluded with renewed calls for national unity, youth empowerment and sustained recognition of individuals whose efforts continue to shape Nigeria’s social and economic development.
