Badaru Applauds Military for Securing Illela-Sokoto Badagry Supper Highway Project

The Honourable Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, has praised the Nigerian Army for its unwavering commitment to ensuring security along the Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway construction corridor.

In a statement signed by Mati Ali, PA Media & Publicity to the Hon. Minister of Defence and made available to Journalists in Abuja stated that:
During a one-day operational visit to Kebbi State on Friday, May 9, 2025, the Minister visited troops at the Forward Operations Base Laager, where he acknowledged their role in protecting the vital infrastructure project.

Badaru highlighted the strategic importance of the road project, describing it as a cornerstone of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “This project is a game-changer for travelers, particularly those commuting between Sokoto and Lagos. It will stimulate the economy by creating numerous jobs and economic opportunities,” he stated.

Addressing the troops, the Minister lauded their dedication and service, noting that his visit was a direct mandate from President Tinubu. “You understand the importance of this road and the critical nature of your mission. That is why the President has entrusted me with the responsibility of visiting you to personally express our appreciation for the exceptional work you are doing,” he said.

The Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is projected to significantly boost transportation efficiency and economic integration between Northern and Southern Nigeria, with enhanced security remaining a top priority throughout its construction phase.
