“In the interest of justice and fairness, kindly intervene and affirm Kabir Mohammed Baba as the duly elected candidate as he has completed the entire obligation and enjoys the grass root support

A socio-political group, Northern Youth Progressive Forum, NYPF has cautioned the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP against substitution of Kabir Mohammed Baba with that of Ibrahim Mohammed Baba for Katagum Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, saying it could cost the party the federal constituency at the upcoming 2023 election.

The group expressed dismay that despite fulfilling all processes needed to contest for primary election as a member of House of Representatives for Katagum federal constituency, plans are ongoing to substitute Kabir Mohammed Baba with Ibrahim Mohammed Baba who allegedly did not take part in the election.

In a complaint letter addressed to the National chairman of NNPP and signed by Magaji Suleiman Zangi, the group said Kabir Mohammed Baba won the primary election which was conducted on May 20, 2022 in Azare unopposed.

According to the NYPF leadership, Kabir Mohammed Baba got full vote of all delegates who participated in the primary which was monitored by INEC under the full glare of security agencies, including DSS, INEC and Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

While insisting that Kabir Mohammed Baba is qualified and enjoys the grassroot support to fly the flag of the party for the constituency, the group queried under which guise the name of Ibrahim Mohammed Baba will be submitted to INEC instead of Kabir Mohammed Baba who duly won the primary election.

The group therefore appealed to the National chairman of NNPP to intervene so that the impending loss of the party in Katagum Federal Constituency of Bauchi State will be averted.

The protest letter read in part, “Kindly intervene and Affirm the candidature of Kabir Mohammed Baba as he has legally completed all his obligations to Qualify to contest for the House of Representatives of his Katagum Federal Constituency under NNPP.

“We know that the national leader of NNPP, His Excellency Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is a ” JUST LEADER” and will NOT involve himself in such a shoddy deal.

“In the interest of justice and fairness, kindly intervene and affirm Kabir Mohammed Baba as the duly elected candidate as he has completed the entire obligation and enjoys the grass root support”.
