Empowering Nigerian Girls to Unlocking Their Potentials for a Brighter Future – Group Urges Government

1 Mins read

In a bid to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote gender equality, the Women Inspiration Development Center (WIDC) in Osun State, in partnership with Grassroot People and Gender Development Center (GRADE) in Lagos and other partners in the South West, has launched a one-year project, “Delivery Agency to Nigerian Girls.”

This initiative aims to empower over 200 girls in Lagos State with the skills and tools necessary for personal empowerment, helping them find their voices, discover their power, and live their dreams.

At the opening workshop, Mrs. Busayo Obisakin, Executive Director of WIDC, emphasized the project’s goal of supporting grassroots organizations and enabling girls to become agents of change.

Mrs. Vivian Ifeoma Emesowum, Executive Director of GRADE, encouraged the girls to prioritize their education and harness their personal powers of commitment, discipline, and self-discovery to shape their future.

The empowerment workshop, based on the Empowerment Institute’s framework, helps girls identify and transform limiting beliefs, craft new empowering beliefs, and develop a supportive community.

By investing in girls’ empowerment, Nigeria can unlock their vast potential, drive economic growth, improve health outcomes, and create a more inclusive society.

As Mrs. Vivian noted, empowering women and girls creates a ripple effect, inspiring future generations to reach their full potential. By harnessing the power of its female population, Nigeria can pave the way for a brighter future.
