The Kwara State Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge has commended residents in Ilorin metropolis for their compliance with the monthly environmental sanitation in the State aimed at creating a clean Kwara.

The Commissioner who stated this in Ilorin today while monitoring the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, appreciated the Executive Governor of Kwara State Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his untiring support in the provision of necessary facilities needed to stop indiscriminate dumping of waste.

Hajia Buge noted that Kwara State has been rated high among its peers for its untiring efforts at eradicating indiscriminate dumping of refuse and sustaining a conducive atmosphere, free of diseases for residents of the State.

She disclosed that about 164 violators were apprehended and will be arraigned before the court. Also one of the violators apprehended attacked the officer on duty, the said offender has been handed over to the police and will be charged to court accordingly.

According to her the reason for the number of violators today was due to the previous environmental sanitation exercise, which was modified because of festivity to allow human and vehicular movements.

She therefore, warned residents to stop violating environmental laws of the State or be ready to face the consequences in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner appealed to the public to join hands with the present administration in its efforts at ensuring a cleaner and greener Kwara.
