Gombe Govt Pledges Full Support for Groups Fighting Child Abuse

The Gombe State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Asma’u Mohammed Iganus, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting any group or organization dedicated to protecting the rights of children in the state.

She made this declaration during the inauguration of a 21-member Technical Working Group on Child Protection Law held at LA Bridge Hotel, Investment Quarters, Gombe.

Asma’u Iganus emphasized that the fight against child abuse is a collective responsibility, aligning with the current administration’s agenda to uphold and enforce child rights. She urged members of the newly inaugurated committee to remain dedicated and to justify the trust placed in them by the government and the people.

In her remarks, Beatrice Dorry of the Child Protection Network Nigeria noted that the initiative aims to eradicate child abuse across the state. She called for the full support of all stakeholders to ensure the success of the program.

Also speaking at the event, the Director of Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Fatima Umar, commended the efforts of various organizations advocating for child rights. She encouraged the committee to work diligently to enhance the implementation and awareness of the Child Rights Act in Gombe State.
