Governor Inuwa Shines with Gombe Healthcare Revolution at UHC Policy Dialogue in Abuja

Governor of Gombe state, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has made the state shines as he highlighted the state’s healthcare revolution at the 2023 Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Policy Dialogue held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Governor of Gombe state, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has made the state shines as he highlighted the state’s healthcare revolution at the 2023 Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Policy Dialogue held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The event, themed ‘Health for All: Time for Action,’ brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for achieving Universal Health Coverage, organized by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the Nigeria UHC Forum.

This is contained in a statement signed by Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli and made available to pressmen stated that, “Governor Inuwa seized the opportunity to showcase Gombe State’s impressive healthcare progress, emphasizing the state’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of its citizens and the pursuit of universal health coverage. The Governor outlined various initiatives, including the recruitment of healthcare workers, establishment of essential agencies, and revitalization of primary healthcare facilities across the state’s 114 wards.”

Addressing the audience, Governor Inuwa highlighted the construction of new referral hospitals and the upgrade of the Gombe Specialist Hospital to meet international healthcare standards. He also outlined pro-poor schemes, allocating 1% of consolidated revenue to ensure the poorest and most vulnerable have access to healthcare services.

Governor Inuwa shared the success of implementing a biometric attendance system for healthcare personnel and other workers in Gombe State. Stressing the importance of stakeholder synergy, he called for collective efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage, stating, “Health is Wealth.”

The Governor received commendations during the plenary session, particularly for Gombe State’s innovative biometric personnel management system and proactive approach to addressing healthcare sector unemployment challenges. Dr. Mohammed Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, heads of various government agencies, development partners, and multiple stakeholders attended the event.

Governor Inuwa concluded by promising to bring the issues raised to the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, highlighting the need for continued collaboration to advance the healthcare agenda. The 2023 UHC Policy Dialogue stands as a testament to Gombe State’s commitment to revolutionizing healthcare and contributing to the national goal of Universal Health Coverage.
