The Ilorin Emirate Professors’ Association (IEPA) has announced that its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will hold on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Millennium Hotel, Fate, Ilorin, Kwara State. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.

In a statement issued by the Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Professor Aishatu Ahmed Gobir, this year’s AGM will feature a keynote lecture centred on “Roles and Responsibilities of the Academia in Good Governance.” The lecture aims to deepen conversations around the strategic influence of intellectual communities in shaping sustainable governance structures in Nigeria.

Renowned scholar and former diplomat, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, CFR, will deliver the keynote address. Professor Gambari, who is the immediate past Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is expected to draw from his vast experience in diplomacy, academia, and public service to illuminate the vital link between scholarly institutions and effective governance.

The AGM will be chaired by Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Kwara State University, while the President of IEPA, Professor Abdul Kabir Hussain Solihu, will serve as Chief Host.

The Royal Father and Life Patron of IEPA, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, has fully endorsed the event.

IEPA extended an open invitation to professors, academics, policymakers, and development stakeholders to participate in what it describes as a “significant intellectual engagement designed to strengthen the contributions of academia to national good governance.”

A major highlight of the 2025 AGM will be the presentation of scholarships to outstanding students of Ilorin Emirate origin studying in universities across Nigeria.

The statement was signed by Professor Isiaka Zubair Aliagan, Chairman, Publicity Committee, IEPA AGM 2025.
