Ojuola Demands Power Shift to Okun Nation, Backs Tinubu for Second Term

2 Mins read

Two terms assembly member and Deputy Governor candidate to late Prince Abubarkar Audu under the platform of (ADC), Barrister Henry Ojuola has clamoured for powers shift to Okun nation of the Western Senatorial District of the State.

Ojuola who made the demand while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja said the request is long overdue based on principles of fairness, equity and justice.

He explained that since the creation of the State, Okun nation is the only axis that has not been able to emerge as the Governor despite all her supportive roles towards political success of the other tribes.

The former lawmaker emphasized that Okun nation can beat his chest in terms of exposure , hard work, education, intelligence and moral conducts.

He maintained that a solid plan has been established to market to the public a candidate that will be loved and willingly supported by the majority of the people.

His words ” As far as Kogi State is concerned, Okun nation cannot be brushed aside, is it in terms of education, industry, intelligence and management. An average Okun man does not promote negativities; I mean gangsterism, thuggery, lies and deceit. I believe with God and people on our side, the dream is achievable. Let look at it ordinarily, if the Eastern part of the state was previously accused of assuming the posture of dominance by holding power for sixteen years, and the Central is ignorantly toeing that path now.

“I think it is not fair, we thought Bello after eight years will establish a rotational pattern that we can gentlemanly stick to. Where is the difference now, where is the paradigm shift from the old order? So every rational human being and lovers of justice will definitely support my position. There are crises in Cameroon and Tanzania right now. It bothers on peoples’ reaction; and sadly violent revolts against those who overstayed in office”.

On recent waves of killings and kidnapping in the State, Barrister Ojuola appealed to those in position of authority to create more avenue for employment.

He maintained that an unemployed and frustrated youths can easily be manipulated or force to compromise his ideals and principles.

His words: ” Unemployment constitute a significant factor to societal problems. You have a young man who does not know where to earn his daily living. At the end of the day, he might have no option than to mix up with the people of the underworld “.

Ojuola advocates careful scrutiny of community policing before its adoption saying the personnel can be easily influenced and controlled by politicians and wealthy individuals in the community.

He also called for more support for security operatives to enable them combat the ugly incidence.

While rating the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ojuola said Tinubu is injecting life into an economy that was in comatose.

He maintained that Tinubu deserves a second tenure to enable him actualise his dreams for the country.

His words ” I was surprised that some people are saying Tinubu is not doing well. All the aspiration and moves of this man to salvage the economy are good. However, a typical Nigeria wants everything free but I believe, if supported for a second term, he will surely create a country that all will be proud of”.
