Olubadan Passes on at 93, to Be Buried According to Muslim Rites Today

The Palace of Olubadan of Ibadanland has confirmed the demise of its first class monarch,Oba Saliu Adetunji.

The Personal Assistant/Director of Media and Publicity for the late Olubadan, Mr Adeola Oloko confirmed the death in a statement on Sunday.

Popoyemoja Youths, where the deceased traditional ruler hailed from are already preparing the last home for the departed Olubadan.
The statement added that the monrch would be buried today (Sunday) at his Popoyemaja Palace, Ibadan according to muslim rites.

The statement entitled “Olubadan passes on, to be buried today”, reads in part

“The 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, and Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1 has joined his ancestor.

“Oba Adetunji, 93 passed away in the early hours of this morning at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

“He is survived by his wife, Olori Rashidat Ololade Adetunji, Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be buried at 4.00 pm today at his Popoyemoja, Ibadan Palace according to Muslim rites.

It was gathered that the Deputy Governor, Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan will be leading a state delegations to the Popoyemaja Palace to give the highly referred monarch last respect.

Meanwhile, the remains of late Oba Adetunji has been brought to his Popoyemoja, Palace, Ibadan with sympathies thronging the place in hundreds.
