Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman Reappoints  as DG NILDS

The Nigerian Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Friday renewed the appointment of Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Prof Abubakar Sulaiman.

This is contained in a statement issued, signed and made available to Journalists by Joke Akinsanmi, the Deputy Director of Information/Communication and Protocol, NILDS on Friday in Abuja.

According to the statement, ‘President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan Reappoints Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman as Director General of NILDS.’

“NILDS is the academic arm of the National Assembly which offers undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in partnership with the University of Benin.

The statement added that, “Sulaiman was reappointed for another four-year term by President of the Senate, who is Chairman of the Governing Council of the NILDS in consultation with the Speaker of the House of Representatives and Alternate Chairman of NILDS’ Governing Council, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The statement reads: “The reappointment of Prof Sulaiman will take effect from May 28, 2023, and the President of the Senate has congratulated him while urging him to continue working towards achieving the core objectives of the Institute as outlined in Sections 2-3 of the Institute’s Act (as amended).”

The immediate past President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, had appointed Sulaiman as DG of NILDS in June 2019, taken over from Dr Adeyemi Fajingbesi, who was acting DG following the retirement of Prof Ladi Hamalai
