President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulated former Senate President and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, on the occasion of his 65th birthday, describing him as an exemplary leader and steadfast patriot.

In a press statement issued on February 19, 2026, President Tinubu joined Chief Anyim’s family, friends, and associates in celebrating the milestone, praying that the day brings him joy and happiness.

The President noted that since 1998, Chief Anyim has remained a constant figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, with a longevity that reflects his ability to build bridges and work with stakeholders across party lines.

Tinubu praised Anyim’s leadership during his tenure as President of the Senate, recalling how he stood firm against attempts to undermine the integrity of the National Assembly. According to the President, Anyim chose what he described as the “uncomfortable and unpopular path” in defence of democratic principles and institutional independence.

The President also acknowledged Anyim’s service as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), where he contributed to deepening reforms and advancing national development. He further commended the elder statesman for consistently promoting unity, dialogue, and inclusive growth.

Describing Chief Anyim as a believer in the promise of a greater and more prosperous Nigeria, President Tinubu said he remains an invaluable ally within the progressive fold.

“As he celebrates his 65th birthday, I wish him good health and strength, especially as our nation needs more patriots who will always ensure its peace, progress, and development,” the President stated.

Chief Anyim, a prominent political leader from Ebonyi State, has held several key positions in Nigeria’s democratic dispensation and continues to play an active role in national discourse.
