The Women Farmers Advancement Network (WOFAN), under the leadership of Hajiya Salamatu Garba, has distributed 5,000 bags of rice to women across Gombe State to mark International Women’s Day, as part of efforts to support families and improve household welfare.

Speaking during the official launch of the distribution, the Chairman of WOFAN in Gombe State, Usman Rayyanu Dabai, said the initiative targets women in several local government areas, including Gombe, Akko, Yamaltu Deba, Kwami, and Dukku.

According to him, the intervention was organized in commemoration of International Women’s Day and implemented under the leadership of Hajiya Salamatu Garba to empower women and assist them in supporting their families, particularly their husbands, in meeting household needs.

He also called on women across the state to continue supporting their husbands and contributing to family responsibilities in order to promote harmony and stability within their homes.

In their separate remarks while receiving the donation, traditional leaders including the Banban Hakimin Gombe, Alhaji Bappah Ibrahim, the Hakimin Bokna, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Deba, and the Lamido of Akko, Alhaji Umaru Muhammadu Atiku, expressed appreciation to Hajiya Salamatu Garba for the generous gesture toward the people of Gombe State.

The traditional leaders further encouraged women in the state to maintain peaceful relationships with their husbands and continue offering support that would strengthen family unity and social cohesion.

The flag-off ceremony for the distribution was held at Orji Estate Primary School in Gombe, where representatives of women from each of the benefiting local government areas were present to receive their allocations.
